The Botanical Society of America is the principal professional society for plant scientists in the United States, formally established in 1893 as an offshoot of the Botanical Club of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. It merged in 1906 with the Society for Plant Morphology and Physiology and the American Mycological Society, and today supports research, education and public understanding of plant science.
