The Philosophy of Science Association, founded in 1933, describes its purpose as promoting research, teaching and free discussion of issues in the philosophy of science from diverse standpoints. It publishes the peer-reviewed journal Philosophy of Science, issued continuously since 1934, holds a biennial meeting whose proceedings appear in the journal's December issue, and presents awards recognizing outstanding contributions to the field. Its main office relocated in January 2021 to the Department of Philosophy at the University of Cincinnati.
