German dairy engineer credited with building the first working centrifuge around 1864, a hand cranked device that separated cream from milk by spinning it, replacing slower gravity based settling; his brother Alexander later refined the design, shown at the 1875 Frankfurt exhibition. No reliable birth or death date for Prandtl survives in the record consulted for this entry.
