Sir James Fraser Stoddart (24 May 1942 to 30 December 2024) was a British-American chemist who was Chair Professor in Chemistry at the University of Hong Kong and Board of Trustees Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University. He worked in supramolecular chemistry and nanotechnology, and shared the 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Bernard L. Feringa and Jean-Pierre Sauvage for the design and synthesis of molecular machines.
